The Daiwa House Group was founded in 1955 under the principle of the “industrialization of construction” — using industrial methods in home-building. With an eye fixed on the future, the Group has continued to grow by finding new ways of applying industrial methods to meet the needs of the times as our society evolves. We have contributed significantly to the use of industrial methods in construction, through innovative technologies such as our steel pipe construction method, a first in Japan. We have laid the foundations for Daiwa House Group as it is today by ensuring a high-volume housing supply with shorter delivery schedules, by using factory production methods, enabling us to contribute to the prosperity of Japan. Today, we have grown into a leading Japanese corporate group comprising 77 member companies in Japan and overseas. Over the years, we have built some 1,370,000 housing units, and been involved in some 36,000 commercial construction projects. We are a multi-business enterprise. In addition to home construction, our businesses now span construction and management of commercial facilities, medical and nursing care facilities, resort hotels, home centers, and sports clubs, and new fields such as energy and robotics.
True to our core mission as a supplier of housing, we have provided a large number of temporary housings following the Great East Japan Earthquake — an expression of our commitment to helping get the quake-hit areas back on their feet as fast as possible. In this Little Tokyo Design Week, we aim not only to familiarize more people with the technological capabilities and various business initiatives of the Daiwa House Group, but also to express our deep thanks for the encouragement and support we have received from the United States and other countries around the world following the disaster, and show our determination to play an important role in the recovery effort, in our capacity as creator of communities. We will be proud to showcase our earthquake-resistant home-construction technology based on industrial methods, and a prototype of our EDV-01 disaster emergency mobile support unit.

In April 2011, we established Daiwa House California in San Jose, a Group company in the United States, which will help us develop new markets as part of our globalization drive. We will address such challenges by leveraging the experience, technological capability, and business know-how that we have accumulated over many years in this business in Japan. Please feel free to drop in at the terrace space where we will have a stand, so we can get to know each other better.

At Daiwa House, we are forging a new future together with our customers, business partners, and other stakeholders. Under our “Endless Heart” Group symbol, which represents our fundamental policy of “co-creating a brighter future,” we are striving to become a Group that co-creates value for individuals, communities and people’ s lifestyles.
