Sony AD- MSCF1: Memory stick duo to compact flash adapter

Picked up a Sony AD- MSCF1 in attempts of finding a more flexible media solution than the SanDisk 64GB Extreme Pro Compact Flash CF. Finding emergency memory in the third world for the most part seems limited to sd cards or first generation compact flash cards. I would have preferred picking up a PhotoFast CR-7000 SD/SDHC to CF Adapter, but they were no where to be found on my stopover in Singapore. Maybe someone can send me a care package???

Anyhow, using a several year old 2gb memory stick duo high speed card that I borrowed from my pocket camera, I was able to shoot video continuously for 26 seconds before exceeding the buffer. Still not fast enough, but 5x the shooting time of the class 4 sd card shot in Akihabaranews.com’s test, found here. From my knowledge, even the newest mark ii and hx series are still rated at the same 20mb/s speed. We’ll see what I can find when I get back to Tokyo in February or the States in April. The solution really might be just pick up a Pani GF1, because backpacking with a 5d mark ii and a 24-70mm lens SUCKS.

nice of sony to build in a spring loading mechanism.
